We all know that space is very big where millions of other planets and different asteroids can be found but scientists are able to study small number of planets and asteroids.According to the theory space is increasing day by day and there is the chance of having the planet like earth around the space but it is just a theory scientists does not have any proof that earth like planet exits around the space.
In past days in social media there are many questions like our earth will destroy in April 29 2020 because of the asteroids falling from the sky all the human beings including animals,plants will died due to the impact of this asteroid well is that true? The answer is no.
Well the name of the asteroid is 1998 OR2 this asteroid came from the the asteroid belt of Mars and Jupiter and it's size is about 4.1 km scientists said that this asteroid will pass through 62 lakhs km away from the earth which is very huge distance.From this news we all human beings including animals and plants are safe and secured from this asteroid.
Can you imagine that if this asteroid hit on the earth what will happen?Can this 4.1 km asteroid has the capacity to destroy all the living beings of the earth? well this is the hypothetical question but it is amazing to explore the truth so lets start.
We all know that before human beings dinosaurs lived in the earth.Around 6.6 crore years ago a asteroid named as chicxulub hit on the earth and within some seconds it destroyed all the dinosaurs from the earth.Scientists says that the size of the chicxulub asteroids is about 11 km to 81 km and its mass is about 10 raised to power 15 to 4.6*10 raised to power 17 kilogram.When it is about is strike on the earth its speed is about 18 km per second now you can imagine that how much energy is released when it strike on the earth.
This asteroid fall on the mexico city and when it fall because of this impact around 150 km long crater is formed which depth is about 20 km.According to different studies after the 10 seconds of this asteroid strike on the earth all the living beings around 1000 km of radius died within seconds.Due to this impact many natural disasters like tsunami,around 10 racer scale earthquake,Fire as well as different volcanoes are active by which sky is full of smoke and dust and around 80% of species are died because of this impact.
Well lets come to our original question that is what happen if 1998 OR2 asteroid hit on the earth.We know that there is vast difference between the size of chicxulub and 1998 OR2 asteroid and we can imagine the impact is also little small comparatively chicxulub asteroid. Scientists said that the speed of 1998 OR2 asteroid is about 20 km per second.If it strike on the land definitely it makes long crater of 27 to 41 km whose depth is about 9 to 10 km.Its energy is 5 times less than the chicxulub asteroid,and we all know the reason that is it's size.In 2015 in nepal and near India the earth quake measure is about 7.8 rater scale and if this 1998 OR2 asteroid strike on the earth around 9 rater scale earthquake will came and definitely it destroy some how part of the human as well as living beings form the earth.
This is only the hypothetical question and answer nothing is happening to our earth till several thousands years but you have to know the knowledge that what will happen if some asteroids strike on the earth.So stay back and relax. This is only the fun experiment.
